Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC)

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Navkis College of Engineering, Hassan (NCEH) has been established in
accordance with the guidelines of the MoE’s Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, with
the objective of creating a vibrant ecosystem that fosters innovation, research, start-up culture, and
entrepreneurial mindset among students and faculty.
The IIC serves as a central institutional platform to nurture creativity, promote problem-solving, encourage
interdisciplinary collaboration, and translate innovative ideas into impactful solutions.

- Awarded a 3-Star Rating by the Ministry of Education for performance during the IIC Calendar Year 2023–24
Vision
IIC–NCEH Vision:
To be a renowned centre for research and innovation, preparing entrepreneurs and innovators for the benefit of mankind.
Mission
The mission of IIC–NCEH is to:
- Create necessary infrastructure and a conducive environment for research and innovation
- Motivate students and faculty to pursue innovation-driven research
- Foster an entrepreneurial mindset across disciplines
- Establish and strengthen incubation and start-up support mechanisms
- Promote ethics, integrity, and social responsibility in innovation
Objectives of IIC
- Promote innovation, ideation, and design thinking
- Encourage start-ups, incubation, and commercialization
- Create awareness on IPR, patents, and technology transfer
- Facilitate industry interaction and mentorship
- Align innovation activities with national initiatives such as Startup India, ARIIA, and NIRF

Activities & Initiatives
The IIC at NCEH conducts a wide range of activities as per the annual calendar prescribed by MoE’s Innovation Cell,
ensuring continuity and quality.
Key activities include:
- Innovation and entrepreneurship awareness programs
- Expert talks by industry professionals and successful entrepreneurs
- Ideation challenges, hackathons, and innovation contests
- Start-up orientation and incubation awareness sessions
- IPR, patent filing, and commercialization workshops
- Interaction with start-up founders and ecosystem enablers
These activities actively engage students and faculty in innovation-led learning and real-world problem solving.

Institution’s Innovation Council
(IIC) at NCEH has been established to create an ecosystem
tofoster innovation and entrepreneurial mindset among the students and
faculty members. It was established as per the norms of the
Innovation Cell, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of
India, during the year 2021-22.
Following activities are performed by IIC-NCEH
- Conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship related activities
prescribed by Central MIC in time bound fashion.
- Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
- Organize Periodic Workshops/ Seminars/ Interactions with
Entrepreneurs, Investors, Professionals and create a Mentor Pool for
student innovators.
- Network with peers and National Entrepreneurship Development
Organizations.
- Organize Hackathons, Idea Competitions, Mini-Challenges etc. with
the involvement of industries.
