Overview

At NCE, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is the discipline that applies engineering, physics, and materials science principles to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery.

Curriculum
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Navkis College of Engineering, Hassan, offers 4 years (8 Semesters) B.E. course with an intake of 60 students. The department is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure and laboratory facilities to conduct the course as per the University prescribed curriculum. The department has a Memorandum of Understating (what is special about The MOU) (MoU) with Govt. Tool room and Training Centre (GT&TC) Mysore and KSRTC Regional Workshop Hassan. Industry visits and internship in industries help students gain real life experience of Mechanical Engineering. The Mechanical Engineering Department Association conducts a number of curricular and co-curricular activities like Workshops, Invited Lectures and Technical Talks for the benefit of students. Students are encouraged to participate in competitions conducted by different institutions. The department runs a Wall Magazine where students share information on latest technologies. The department also brings out a News Letter where students and faculty publish articles related to the emerging engineering technologies and related domains. Results are on the higher side. Most of the eligible students get placed on-campus as well as off-campus. The department strives for the all-round development of the students.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
PSO1: To comprehend knowledge of mechanical engineering and apply them to identify, formulate and address the problems using latest technology in an effective manner to work successfully as a mechanical engineer in a team.
PSO2: To apply modern management and manufacturing techniques to produce product of high quality at optimal cost. Also exhibit honesty, integrity and conduct responsibility ethically and legally, holding the safety and welfare of the society paramount.

Infrastructure
Classrooms are furnished with Data Projectors and Internet facility. These facilities give the faculty to have an engaging and inclusive learning experience. Equipment, Machinery and Tools in the laboratory are maintained well and upgraded periodically. The computer aided mechanical Engineering labs at Navkis College of Engineering, Hassan, has machines with latest configuration and the necessary software are available to give students the best learning experience.

Mechanical Engineering Faculty
The qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty of the Mechanical Engineering department take the onus of keeping themselves updated with the change in industry to curate the curriculum. In order to achieve the same, NCEH Mechanical Engineering Faculty members attend Workshops and Faculty Development Programmes. Experts from both academia and industry are invited to conduct a number of Workshops, Seminars and lectures on cutting edge technologies for the benefit of the Mechanical Engineering faculty and students. Opportunities are provided to students for attending Workshops and Conferences conducted by other colleges and organisations.
